High Damping Seismic Isolators
Developed by China Communications First Highway Survey, Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., the High Damping Seismic Isolators are a series of standard components for seismic isolation bridges. These isolators comply with national standards (GB 20688) and relevant industry norms, incorporating European standards. They are patented technical achievements supported by major scientific and technological research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels.
These isolators have passed the provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological achievement appraisal (Shaan Ke Jian Zi [2010]) No. 097 and related certifications. Upgraded to the transportation industry standard of the People's *** (JT 2009-26), they are suitable for various types of highways and municipal bridges in earthquake intensity areas of 9 degrees and below.
Isolation rubber bearings, including high damping rubber bearings, offer excellent isolation performance, effectively reducing earthquake damage to bridges. High damping rubber bearings, made of high damping rubber materials, achieve a damping ratio of 10% to 16%. Their high viscosity rubber material absorbs energy, enhancing ductility and extending the natural vibration period during earthquakes.
By utilizing high damping composite rubber material instead of lead core, these bearings offer strong energy consumption ability, stable performance, and significant seismic isolation effects. With higher equivalent viscous damping, they effectively control the seismic response of isolated structures. Their compact size saves space, simplifies construction, and offers a cost-effective alternative to lead core sandwich rubber bearings.
